On its own this cabinet uses only 37 % of the 6 sheets it consumes. That is normal, and it is why the app nests the whole job in one go: one carcass's offcuts take the small parts of the others.

Plywood is not a luxury here

A workshop drawer full of spanners can weigh 25 kg. On an 8 mm chipboard bottom it sags and eventually tears out of its groove; in 15 mm plywood it does not move.

Birch plywood also holds a screw in end grain, which chipboard does not. On a cabinet that gets taken apart and put back together in the shop, that is the difference between a repairable carcass and a disposable one.

Finger joints, and why the corner reliefs

This model is assembled with machined finger joints: the fingers come out directly in the part's outline, with no corner hardware. It is the strongest of the three systems and the only one that holds without screws.

A round cutter cannot make a sharp internal corner: without relief, the finger does not seat fully and the joint stands open by the cutter radius. So the generator adds a corner relief — dogbone or T-bone — in every internal corner. That is the first thing that separates a usable file from a nice drawing.

What slides for a workshop drawer?

Full-extension ball-bearing slides rated for at least 35 kg, running the full depth of the carcass. Full extension matters as much as the load rating: a deep drawer you can only pull two-thirds out is a drawer whose back you never use.

What plywood thickness for a tool cabinet?

18 mm for the carcass and fronts, 15 mm for drawer sides, 8 mm HDF for a back housed in a groove. That is this model's breakdown, and it carries workshop loads without over-building what carries nothing.
