Bathroom vanity

An 800 mm vanity is 550 mm high on 150 mm legs, which puts the top of the basin at about 850 mm — the height at which you lean over without wrecking your back. Its top is cut with a Ø90 hole for the trap, and the drawer below has to work around that trap.

On its own this cabinet uses only 18 % of the 4 sheets it consumes. That is normal, and it is why the app nests the whole job in one go: one carcass's offcuts take the small parts of the others.

The trap cut-out decides the drawer

A basin trap drops 150 to 200 mm below the bowl and occupies the middle of the cabinet. A full drawer at that height is impossible: it is the drawer that gets notched, not the trap that gets moved.

The Ø90 hole sits 400 mm from the left edge and 230 mm from the back in this model — the axis of a basin centred on an 800 mm cabinet. The position is adjustable, and the generator cuts it in the top panel's own outline.

A moisture-resistant back, not chipboard

The back of this cabinet is 5 mm HDF. In a bathroom it is the panel that takes the damp first: it is against the wall, in the least ventilated place, and ordinary chipboard swells there within two winters.

Material is chosen panel group by panel group in the app — carcass, fronts, drawers, back — and the sheet layout then groups the parts by material and thickness for purchasing.

Common questions

At what height should a bathroom basin sit?

850 mm from floor to the top surface, so a 550 mm cabinet on 150 mm legs with a countertop basin, or an 800 mm cabinet for an inset one. Lower and you hurt your back; higher and the water runs down your forearms.

Can you fit two drawers under a basin?

Yes, provided the top drawer is notched around the trap. The bottom drawer passes below the trap unobstructed. Cabinet·CNC cuts the top opening and gives the dimensions; the drawer notch is sized on the trap as installed.
